💷 Salary: £40,000 – £43,500 per annum
🕒 Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm | Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm

The Opportunity
10 Recruitment are currently supporting a well-established manufacturing business in the Wakefield area who are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer who enjoys a hands-on mechanical maintenance role within a traditional manufacturing environment.
The position offers the chance to work on a wide range of heavy mechanical equipment, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure maximum reliability and minimise downtime.
The Role
As a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site machinery and equipment
- Responding to mechanical breakdowns and carrying out effective repairs
- Fault finding and diagnosing issues on heavy manufacturing equipment
- Maintaining and repairing a variety of machinery including:
- Lathes
- Milling machines
- Presses
- Workshop machinery
- Gearboxes
- Bearings
- Shafts and drive systems
- Working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Supporting electrical fault finding, including motors, drives and control panels
- Assisting with continuous improvement projects and engineering improvements
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within a heavy manufacturing, engineering or workshop environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Experience maintaining traditional machinery such as lathes, presses, mills or similar equipment
- A mechanical engineering apprenticeship or time-served background
- Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems
- Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs independently
- A proactive approach to problem solving and improving equipment reliability
Electrical skills would be advantageous, particularly experience with basic fault finding on motors, drives and control systems.
Package & Benefits
